Monkey Gone To Heaven - Pixies

This is a beautifully haunting ode to a monkey who died due to the degrading state of the Earth’s environment. A monkey who was swallowed up by the toxic filth we humans have accumulated. Us humans are self-indulgent creatures. We bulldoze through entire jungles, pollute the air with our massive coal-burning factories, destroy our oceans with careless oil spills, all without any consideration to the wildlife or mother nature herself. We rarely put ourselves in the life of a poor fish who is caught in a six-pack of soda’s plastic rings, or the seal covered in oil due to a spill, or the monkey whose habitat in the Amazon jungle has been destroy by massive lumber companies. We have to take tender care of our Earth. We sometimes forget that we share it with the massive amount of wildlife and flora, and that our survival as a species is dependent on their survival. I’m proud of all these green initiatives that are going on, we as a people are growing conscious of the earth we live in, and ultimately that is good thing. Let’s allow no more monkeys to prematurely go to heaven.
